This is a very interesting little Math Primar from the early 1900's.It is so thorough! I have never seen anything like it. If you are a collector of old math books, you will want this one. Also a perfect collectible for the mathematically inclined. A jewel. If you use math constantly in your job, this teaches you to do math in your head, and not on paper. It is amazing!
The preface says "This book has been prepared in response to the demand for a one-book course in mental arithmetic topically arranged, and dealing with such subjects and furnishing such problems as are met with in every-day life. In doing the world' s work the tradesman, the man in the shop, and people in almost all walks in life use much more mental than written arithmetic. More and more those responsible for the training of the workers are coming to realize this fact, and are devoting more of the arithmetic time in schools to mental work. All subjects taken up in written arithmetics are treated in this book. Both development and practive work are included. The subjects are arranged in a logical order, and many carefully graded excercises given in each. The last 24-pages consist of misc. review problems. In most systems of schools these would be suited for pupils in the last year of arithmetic work, and a considerable portion of them might be used earlier.
